New Music Discoveries 29th September: Little Thief, Lynks, Brendan Maclean, and more

Closing out September, we’ve added ten new tracks to our Discovery playlist on Spotify and Apple Music, including one track we had an exclusive premiere for earlier in the week. Our track of the week comes from Bristol rockers Little Thief, with their banging new single, “On The Line”.

The track is a bone-shaking mix of ripping guitars, beating rhythms and soaring vocals. Reminiscent of bands such as The Black Keys, Royal Blood and The Kills, their passion and urgency are intoxicating.  Little Thief are about to embark on a string of dates in the UK—Head HERE for more details.

“NEW BOYFRIEND” is the strutting new single from hyped British artist Lynks. With an irresistible beat, nu-disco undercurrents and a smattering of crunching guitars, distorted drum fills and synths all vying for attention. According to Lynks, a self-confessed ‘merchant of pure gay chaos’, the track is all about ‘lovely, kind, thoughtful, intelligent, well-adjusted couples turning into chaotic horny monsters the second they break up.’ So, yeah… It’s a whole vibe! Check out the excellent accompanying music video HERE.

From gay chaos, we take a very short step to the very fabulous Brendan Maclean, who is back with the somewhat startling and highly amusing single,  “The Front”.  Brendan gives us some background: “Originally it was going to be a flip on, “stabbing someone in the back,” but after watching Heartbreaker and Red White & Royal Blue, both which feature the gay missionary position, I ditched the double entendre and went with, “fuck me from the front. ”It’s a funny lyric but it’s built on this sincere idea of looking someone in the eye when you’re being intimate.”

So yes, it’s very much NSFW and has the big hooks and powerful vocals we’ve come to expect from Brendan. It was produced by Joyride and Paul Mac with Cry Club on guest vocals.

“In the Middle” is a track taken from the new self-titled album from Central Coast trio Sunsoli (f.k.a. The Sea Gypsies). It’s a fun listen — bright, bold and with a suave 80’s touch. There’s a killer guitar solo in there too. The band are taking the album out on the road from October to December. For more information on dates and to grab tickets, head HERE.

Sydney’s Sammi Constantine is celebrating her 30th birthday with “30FT”, which stands for “30, flirty and thriving”. Sammi continues her run of quality pop-singles, ear-worms that celebrate female empowerment, encourage self-confidence, and standing up for oneself. The track delivers in spades, with energy to burn and encourages those in the music industry, particularly women, to not feel as though they are ‘aged out’. Rise up and conquer!

Another Sydney band, Good Pash have released “Money City”. Humorous lyrics and upbeat rhythms make the latest offering from this Sydney quintet a fitting soundtrack for your daily commute. Sweetly sarcastic vocals dance around western-tinged guitars for a fun and informed singalong.

“cold coffee” is the new single from 21 year old Cronulla singer-songwriter Neptune. The single is the first to be released from his forthcoming debut EP nowhere fast and is a striking addition to the burgeoning coastal folk songbook in Australia. Hushed vocals and delicately plucked guitar combine beautifully on this soulful number, and that’s before the sax comes in.

Finally, we have an exclusive premiere from Sophian.
