In a time where technology seems to isolate us, Illuminate Adelaide uses large-scale technology to embrace and connect ourselves to the natural world. Last year, we saw Illuminate Adelaide’s Light Cycles program transform the Adelaide Botanic Garden into an ethereal experience with nature.

This year, the creators of Light Cycles, Moment Factory, are turning the “cold” into “cool” by presenting a new night-time trail that “promises to captivate by highlighting nature itself,” according to the official Illuminate Adelaide website.

“One of the key draw cards will be Resonate, which is by the same group that delivered Light Cycles for the last couple of years,” Tourism SA’s Executive Director of Marketing, Erik de Roos, said. “Resonate will be one of the key things to watch for and to look for.”

With six new light installations and a brighter package of light, technology and original soundscapes, Resonate will be the unofficial sequel to Light Cycles. The program will take place at the Adelaide Botanic Garden’s North Terrace Gates, immersing attendees through a transformed garden of experiences.

“Resonate is an experience brought to life by a range of technologies and techniques,” Illuminate’s Co-Founder and Creative Director Lee Cumberlidge told Forte Magazine.  “This year is in entirely new areas with a 1.8km trail through the gardens that will no doubt be very popular this year.”

Resonate aims to immerse guests with an experience that connects them to the natural world, enhancing different parts of nature Adelaide has to offer.

The highly anticipated program will run from Thu 29 June – Sun 30 July, with tickets starting at $42 per person.

This year, Moment Factory also presents Mirror Mirror, a playground of interactive technology to explore your own creativity.

A combination of lights, music, poetry, lasers, and artificial intelligence will bring audiences together for a ‘digital campfire’ of experiences.

“We’ve been involved in this project since its inception,” Cumberlidge told Forte Magazine. “It’s an interactive journey through the human imagination with a series of different experiences giving a chance to play interact and input thoughts and memories, connecting the audience to the artwork and the tech.”

The event’s digital installations are specifically designed to provide attendees the full experiences of the latest technology.

Mathieu Granger, the producer of Moment Factory, told the Financial Review that he “promises an immersive experience that will respond to the mood of visitors, gleaned from their responses to a short questionnaire downloaded to their smartphones before entry.”

The connection between humans and nature has never been clearer with Illuminate’s innovative tools.

Mirror Mirror and Resonate will have you weaving through the sensations of nature and self-discovery, with the help of technology.
