Running from Wednesday November 1st to Sunday November 5th, BAD Sydney is back and bigger than ever!
It all kicks off in just a few days, with an infamous Literary Death Match at the State Library of NSW’s Metcalfe Auditorium. Writers Tim Ayliffe, Anne Buist, Candice Fox, and Rob McDonald will duke it out in this crime themed version of the worldwide sensation. There’s no shortage of highlights to follow, from the launch of Tony Birch‘s Women & Children, to former Detective Chief Inspector Gary Jubelin‘s take on crime fiction, to the Fresh Blood panels, celebrating new voices in the genre.
Armchair detectives can test their mettle against the festival’s very own Whodunit?, historians can learn more about the notorious Pentridge Prison, and future Agatha Christies will find no shortage of workshops and masterclasses. There’s even something for those who’d rather be walking the beat, with walking tours of Surry Hills and Hyde park, led by crime tour specialist Elliot Lindsay and author Amanda Hampson.
BAD Sydney will also host the Danger Awards ceremony, celebrating books that feature Australia as a setting for tales of crime and justice. Alongside awards for crime fiction and non-fiction, a People’s Choice Award will also be up for grabs for the first time.
Other guests scheduled to appear include John Killick, John Silvester, Aunty Barbara Nicholson, Chris Hammer, Julie Janson, Mark Morri, Michael Mohammed Ahmad, Larissa Behrendt, Shankari Chandran, Suzanne Leal, Nardi Simpson, and more.
